Alibaba's Sea Breeze - 4 Apartments

Alibaba's Sea Breeze beach apartments are located right above Castara's Little Bay (also known as Heavenly Bay) and provide direct access onto the beach. The four studio apartments overlook the sea, reef and both of Castara's beaches.

We reviewed Sea Breeze in 2006 and then again in 2011. The apartments are ideally placed, highly affordable and we can thoroughly recommend them to all readers. Our full report is available through the 'Review' tab above.

Arnos Vale Vacation Apartments - 3 Apartments

The Arnos Vale Apartments are located on the outskirts of Plymouth village, shortly before Arnos Vale. Every time I pass the property I am impressed by the immaculately painted buildings and neat, beautifully landscaped grounds. It therefore came as little surprise to find that the owner, Victor Forde, was equally charming when I had the pleasure of meeting him during our 2005 trip to Tobago.

The property offers two 2-bedroom apartments and one 1-bedroom apartment. Wheelchair access is possible to one of the two-bedroom apartments.

This property is a member of the Tobago Bed & Breakfast Association, a group of small properties dedicated to providing high levels of visitor holiday accommodation.

Bayview Villa - 3 Apartments

Bayview Villa is very private and beautifully landscaped.  Its shared pool with private sun-terrace is set in a lush tropical garden.  Offering panoramic sea views of Stone Haven Bay, the villa is only a short walk from Grafton Beach and a 2 to 3 minute walk from the happening hamlet of Pleasant Prospect with its cash stop, a small but well-stocked mini-mart and all the self-catering amenities needed to create the holiday of your dreams.

The villa can be rented as an entire unit, providing accommodation for up to 10 adults, or let as separate units.  There are 3 floors or levels, each offering a separate self-contained apartment: on the top level "The Captain's Quarters" is a spacious 3-bedroom apartment; there is a one-bedroom unit in the middle; and "Crew's Nest" is the tastefully furnished studio apartment located on the lower deck closest to the pool. The middle one-bedroom unit is only available during the summer months.

Beach House - 3 Apartments

A beautifully situated wooden house directly on Heavenly Bay beach at Castara. The Beach House faces due west, so offers spectacular views of the sun and moon setting over the sea. The upper floor of the house forms a single one-bedroom apartment, whilst the lower floor has been subdivided into two self-contained studio apartments with fitted kitchen and veranda. Our four nights at Coconut Heights, the upper apartment at Beach House were undoubtedly one of the highlights of our 2006 tour of Tobago. These apartments won't suit everyone, but they were just so 'us'.

Bijou Des Caraibes - 4 Apartments

Located within a five minute drive of Mount Irvine beach, Bijou des Caraibes is a popular apartment house offering two studio apartments, a one-bedroom apartment and a two-bedroom apartment.

We enjoyed a far too brief stay at Bijou Des Caraibes during our 2003 visit to Tobago and totally endorse all the rave reviews we have read about this small establishment. The accommodation is relatively no-frills, but comfortable. The hospitality from owner Judy Gemmet is second to none. Its no wonder that guests return time after time.

Birdie's Nest - 3 Apartments

Literally on the beach overlooking Black Rock's Courland Bay, Birdie's Nest is a comfortably furnished West Indian beach house. This property will provide a genuine 'true' Caribbean experience.

The main two-bedroom apartment occupies the entire upper floor of the house. The lower floor has recently been converted to provide two smaller one-bedroom apartments.

We had a look around Birdie's Nest during our 2001, while the downstairs apartments were being built. The American visitors resident in the main apartment were more than happy. Both they and I were superbly impressed by young Prince Robinson (just 18 years of age the week before) who effectively manages the property for his mother, the charmingly named Princess.

This property may lack the sophistication of some places, but if sophistication is what you are looking for, why go to Tobago? Those who wish to experience the 'true' beauty of the island - the warmth and hospitality of the local people - should look no further.

Blue Mango Cottages - 4 Apartments

The Blue Mango comprise of a rustic open-style two-storey wooden building divided into three one-bedroom apartment plus a separate self-contained cottage and annexe, charmingly-named Sweet Point and Sea Steps. In addition, a two-bedroom house called Trinity's Cottage is now available to guests. The property is situated in a stunning location between Castara's two beaches.

Castara Retreats Apartments - 3 Apartments

Castara Retreats consists of three well appointed, high quality apartments superbly set in lush tropical gardens with astonishing views out over the broad sweep of Castara Bay.

Rainforest apartment (two bedrooms) takes up the whole of the top floor of the house with Hummingbird 1 and 2 apartments directly below, each with ensuite bedroom. Each apartment can be booked individually or the whole house can be rented for larger families or groups.

Castara Retreats also offers an original and thoughtfully renovated Caribbean fisherman’s shack plus two additional newly built self-contained lodges – all designed to the same high standards.

The property attracts regular and highly positive comment in our forum and offers a truly unique experience.

Hanging Garden Villa - 2 Apartments

Offering a choice of a one, two or three-bedroom self-contained apartment, Hanging Garden Villa is tucked into the rainforest with terraces that offer panoramic views of Castara Bay, the rainforest, and the sea. Minutes from Castara beach and local restaurants, it features a lovely outdoor bar and a private nature trail to a secluded 35 foot falls and lover's pool.

This lovel property is located alongside an equally special 2-bedroom villa, Paradise Point Villa. We enjoyed five days at this very unique property in 2007 and our full review of the property is available via the 'Review' tabs at the top and bottom of the page.

Hibiscus Heights - 4 Apartments

Perched on a scenic ridge above the friendly little village of Pleasant Prospect, Hibiscus Heights is a colonial- style villa with stunning panoramic sea views of Stone Haven Bay.

The main house consists of three separate self-contained units: a three-bedroom apartment with its own private pool on the upper floor; and two separate (or also adjoining) studio apartments on the ground floor. There is also a one-bedroom cottage within the gated grounds.

The property is only a short walk from Grafton Beach and the facilities of the Grafton Beach Resort and Le Grand Courlan Resort & Spa.

Hidden Cottage - 2 Apartments

Hidden Cottage is a wooden house nestled in lush hillside rainforest in Castara Village, yet is just 3 minutes walk to the beach. The lower floor of the house provides a three-bedroom apartment called Mot-Mot House and can sleep up to 8 people. The upper level offers a single air-conditioned self-contained studio apartment called Hummingbird Apartment. Both have their own private decks.  Mot Mot house can also be rented as two bedroom or as superior one bedroom

Lillibets - 4 Apartments

Located just 40m from the beach in Castara's Heavenly Bay, Lillibets is Castara's newest accommodation offering. This new two-storey house offers four one-bedroom self-contained apartments with shared use of the swimming pool at the adjacent Angel Apartments.

Although the apartments did not initially have any hot water supply, we have been notified (November 2007) that hot water has now been installed in both the bathrooms and the kitchens. Two of the apartments also have air-conditioning.

Mahi Mahi Suite - 3-bedroom Apartment

Mahi Mahi Suite is a 3-bedroom apartment located within the new Black Rock Dreams apartment block. Located right on Grafton Beach, the apartment enjoys stunning sea views from the spacious balcony, lounge and master bedroom.

Ocean Air - 2-bedroom Apartment

This spacious luxury apartment is situated in the prestigious Tobago Plantations development midway between the airport and Scarborough, a short stroll away from Little Rockly Bay beach. Ocean Air offers stunning views across the Tobago Plantations golf course to the beach and ocean beyond. Children over 10 years of age are welcome.

We stayed at Ocean Air during our 2004 visit to Tobago. The apartment (condominium to our North American readers) offers the very highest standards of self-catering luxury and being located literally ON the Tobago Plantation golf course, will make a brilliant choice for golfers in particular. Orchid Villa Apartments - 4 Apartments

Orchid House is located in Mount Pleasant Village in southwest Tobago and consists of two spacious family-sized apartments on the first floor and a single studio apartment on the ground floor. There is also a very quaint 1-bedroom cottage in the grounds.

The friendly and hospitable English owner resides on the ground floor, is an excellent cook and provides breakfast and dinner by arrangement. There is a half acre of well maintained gardens and a Jacuzzi/plunge-pool plus a 'Games Room' with excercise equipment and a full-size pool table. A swimming pool is due for completion in mid-2006..

Petit Careme Apartment - 1-bedroom Apartment

Petit Careme is located in a small gated secure community of five villas, known as Tobago Villas On The Green and located in a two-acre valley adjacent to the Mount Irvine Golf Course.

This villa and apartment received the Tobago Tourism Department "Villa of the Year" award in both 2004 and 2005. The three-bedroom villa can accommodate six adults in very great comfort. In addition, the villa has a separate air-conditioned completely self-contained one-bedroom apartment which can be hired independently or with the villa. Being a totally private small community, the five villas would make a stunning base for a wedding or corporate party.

We stayed at Petit Careme in 2005 and again in 2008 and thought the Tobago Villas On The Green would make a wonderful and very private venue for a wedding or corporate party. Read our review for full details.

Porridge's Place - 1-bedroom Apartment

Porridge's Place is a small modern studio apartment, recently constructed beneath the upper floor apartment home of the well-known Castara car hire and property manager of the same name. Located in a quiet spot on the eastern edge of Castara village, the property looks across open rural landscape with distant views of the ocean and is about a 10-minute walk from Castara beach.

SeaScape - 2 Apartments

Seascape is a new open-style traditional wooden house perched on the small headland between Castara's two gorgeous beaches. Previously known as Cliff Hanger and part of the Blue Mango group of cottages, the property has changed ownership in recent years. The original cottage has been demolished and the new building offers substantially improved self-catering apartment accommodation with the same stunning views over Castara bay and beach. Opened January 2009.

Sherwood Park Apartments - 10 Apartments

Located at Carnbee, half-way between Crown Point airport and Scarborough, the reputation of the Sherwood Park Apartments continues to go from strength to strength. It would be difficult to find alternative self-catering accommodation on Tobago with such a great combination of price, features and facilities, packaged in such a relaxing and peaceful location with some of the friendliest and helpful management and staff on the island.

Top River Pearl - 5 Apartments

Top River Pearl offers four double-occupancy-apartments with kitchenette, plus one two-bedroom self-contained apartment, located 200m from the beach in Charlotteville in the north of Tobago.

We started our 2005 annual pilgrimage with four days at Top River Pearl. We wished we had allowed longer. Although basic, like ALL accommodation in Charlotteville, we would have been more than happy to spend a full two weeks at this friendly little guesthouse.
